A lista dos 500 Maiores Álbuns de Todos os Tempos foi publicada originalmente pela revista norte-americana Rolling Stone em 2003. Com discos sendo lançados todos os anos, no entanto, a relação não pôde ser considerada definitiva. Tanto é que passou por atualizações em 2012 e 2020.

Agora, no fim de 2023, a Rolling Stone apresentou mais uma atualização. Dessa vez, os editores decidiram refazer a lista do zero. Para isso, receberam e tabularam as compilações dos 50 melhores álbuns de mais de 300 artistas, produtores, críticos e figuras da indústria musical, de programadores de rádio a chefes de gravadoras.
